University of Memphis - Customer Case Study

The University of Memphis sought to improve its limited shuttle service for its 22,500 students and faculty. The director of transportation wanted to build on the success of a basic bus-tracking app by adding features like on-board announcements and automatic passenger counters to increase ridership and justify the service's value, all while staying within a constrained budget.

ETA Transit Systems implemented its SPOT Intelligent Transit System, which provided the desired vehicle tracking, shelter signage, on-board announcements, and data analysis tools. The results included a significantly improved rider experience, ADA-compliant services, and, most importantly for the university, the detailed operational data needed to make informed decisions. ETA's technology and their support in interpreting the data allowed the university to analyze service at a much higher level and effectively track the increased ridership.
