Florida Atlantic University (FAU) needed a more reliable way to manage its growing campus shuttle service as enrollment and expansion increased across its Boca Raton campus. With two fixed routes, six shuttles, and frequent complaints about arrival times, the university turned to ETA Transit Systems for a CAD/AVL shuttle tracking solution that could improve visibility for riders, dispatch, and administration.

ETA Transit Systems implemented GPS tracking devices, a web and mobile rider tracking platform, and dispatch/reporting software for FAU’s Owl Express fleet, later expanding the system with MDT touchscreen units and APC passenger counters. The results were immediate: inbound complaints nearly disappeared, staff gained accurate real-time accountability and reporting, and FAU was able to analyze on-time performance and ridership data more effectively while improving service and campus pride.
