A ESRI Case Study
The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, the state workers’ compensation agency serving 3.3 million workers with 19 regional offices and roughly 5,000 workplace inspections a year, struggled with time‑consuming, spreadsheet‑based assessments (some reports had 200 columns and 800 rows) that made it hard to evaluate office performance and customer needs. To modernize evaluation and visualization, the agency turned to ESRI, adopting ArcGIS Insights to digitize data collection and analysis.
ESRI’s ArcGIS Insights was implemented quickly (initial setup took about two days with roughly four hours of GIS professional time) to map regional offices, display call and walk‑in statistics, and enable interactive spatial analysis. The solution sped up analysis, improved communication and decision‑making, and helped managers spot trends to reallocate staff or adjust schedules; it also empowered regional staff to create their own workbooks and visualizations, increasing productivity and data stewardship across the organization.
