San Juan County Reaches New Heights with a Natural Leader
San Juan County, New Mexico, faced severe budget and staffing cuts that left its GIS department a single-person operation led by Sherice Snell. To modernize the county’s mapping and real‑time spatial data capabilities and get more done with less, San Juan County partnered with ESRI for strategic support, licensing and services around ArcGIS (including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS AppStudio and related Esri Services).
ESRI delivered an ArcGIS Enterprise Jumpstart Package and on-site Esri Services consultants who installed and configured ArcGIS Enterprise (portal, Web Adaptor), migrated servers, configured hundreds of data services, and provided hands-on training. The work let San Juan County consolidate 11 applications into ArcGIS Web AppBuilder in a day, spin up a GeoHub within a week, deploy mobile apps for departments such as the Sheriff’s Office (helping clear a backlog of arrest warrants), shorten project turnaround times, and scale enterprise GIS across the county—outcomes driven by ESRI’s consulting and training.
