A ESRI Case Study

Leveraging Insights for ArcGIS to Promote Economic Growth

The Municipality of East Hants, a fast‑growing Nova Scotia region of about 21,000 residents, needed to build an economic growth strategy that considered all data in the context of location to meet targets (including CAD$36 million in added commercial assessment by 2030 and support for 150 local businesses annually). To do this, the Municipality of East Hants turned to ESRI and its ArcGIS Insights platform to bring location intelligence into planning and investment‑readiness work.

Using ESRI’s ArcGIS Insights, Graham Scott and the Economic & Business Development team merged datasets, ran regression and spatial analyses, and produced geo‑enabled reports that reveal industry clusters, supply‑chain links, and service gaps (including forecasts for local doctor shortages). The result: officials and business leaders get actionable intelligence instead of sifting spreadsheets, routine requests that once took hours now take minutes, saving several days per year, and providing clear analytics to attract and target investment.
