Gulfport Energy Saves Time and Money with ArcGIS® Apps for Field Data Collection

Gulfport Energy, an independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company based in Oklahoma City, faced the challenge of cutting costs and improving field-data accuracy while the market was tight. The company had been relying on costly third-party data collection and paper forms that were hard to share and error-prone. To address this, Gulfport deployed ESRI ArcGIS apps for the field, including Collector for ArcGIS and Survey123 for ArcGIS, which required minimal staff training and were available at no additional cost.

Using ESRI’s Collector and Survey123, Gulfport implemented map-centric workflows to identify pad sites and plan waterline routes and a form-driven inspection process for sump pumps across nearly 270 well-pad sites. The apps delivered real-time, multi-device data capture, eliminated costly return trips, produced more accurate and shareable rights-of-way and pad-site maps, and enabled faster water-quality decisions that can reduce trucking. As a result, Gulfport achieved significant efficiency gains and reported a first-year cost reduction of at least $2 million.
