A ESRI Case Study
Farr West Engineering, a Reno-based firm that supports rural utility districts, faced a legacy GIS environment with a single desktop license and file-based storage that made data integration slow, manual, and hard to use in the field. To deliver more scalable, affordable mapping and analytics to clients, Farr West turned to ESRI technology—moving to ArcGIS Enterprise, distributed collaboration, and the AEC Project Delivery Subscription to enable real‑time access, multiuser editing, and mobile workflows.
Using ESRI’s ArcGIS Enterprise platform and Project Delivery Subscription, Farr West implemented synchronized web services and shared ArcGIS Online views so clients can view, edit, and review assets in real time. The change cut data publishing from 16 hours to 2 hours (an 87.5% reduction), supports 12 active projects on the framework, and unlocked mobile apps like ArcGIS Explorer with plans for Survey123 and Collector—making GIS a core revenue-generating function across Farr West’s contracts.
