A eSpatial Case Study
Kingston University, a leading UK centre for GIS education, set out to broaden its MSc GIS programme by exposing students to industry‑standard, cloud‑based tools without the heavy IT overhead of traditional desktop systems. The challenge was to give both on‑site and distance learners hands‑on experience with a full‑function GIS across platforms and locations, preparing graduates for a geospatial industry moving toward SaaS and web technologies.
The university adopted eSpatial OnDemand GIS™, a SaaS cloud GIS that requires only an internet connection and browser, offered to tertiary institutions at low cost. This solution enabled easy, consistent deployment for students in London, Melbourne and beyond, expanded teaching breadth and depth, and ensured graduates gained practical experience with an industry‑relevant, cloud‑delivered GIS.
