Utica Community Schools boosts NWEA growth by 25 points with eSpark Learning

Utica Community Schools partnered with eSpark Learning to address widening early learning gaps and student engagement challenges, particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic. The district needed a solution that could provide academic support while also fostering student connection and motivation in the classroom.

eSpark implemented its personalized learning platform, eSpark Premium+, providing adaptive Quests in reading, writing, phonics, and math tailored to individual student levels and interests. The solution enabled easy differentiation for teachers and was used across K-3 general education and K-6 self-contained classrooms. Students using eSpark consistently outpaced expected growth on NWEA MAP Growth assessments, exceeding expectations by over 10 percentile points in reading and by 25 points in math, with the greatest gains seen among students in the lowest tercile.
