A eSpark Learning Case Study
Utica Community Schools, a large public school district in Michigan, sought to integrate technology into its kindergarten classrooms to move beyond traditional instruction. Their challenge was to leverage a new technology investment to empower teachers to differentiate instruction and provide personalized learning, all while transitioning to full-day kindergarten and new Common Core standards. They partnered with eSpark Learning to help implement this vision.
eSpark Learning provided a platform for personalized learning plans on iPads, which were integrated into a rotating centers classroom model. The solution included custom professional development and ongoing support for teachers. The results were significant: kindergarten students using eSpark grew from the 47th to the 63rd percentile on the NWEA MAP assessment in one year, outperforming national peers. The program was expanded, and across K-2 grades, eSpark helped double the percentage of students on track for college readiness from 20% to 50% over two years.
