The Asteria Group Achieves World First Automation of Complex Labels with Integrated Solution

The Asteria Group, a labels and packaging company, faced the challenge of automating its highly complex label production workflow, which included multi-layer and hybrid labels printed with various technologies. Their subsidiary, Accent, sought to maximize efficiency and reduce the manual, error-prone processes involved. To address this, they engaged vendor Esko and its Automation Engine software to collaborate on a solution.

Esko, in partnership with CERM, developed new integrated functionality within its Automation Engine to fully automate the pre-production of these complex labels. The solution streamlined the entire process, eliminating manual errors and drastically reducing prepress time from hours to minutes. This resulted in significant efficiency and productivity gains for the Asteria Group, allowing them to expand their product offering. The success of this implementation has led to the system being deployed at other Asteria sites and numerous businesses worldwide.
