Sunway achieves improved efficiency, productivity and all-round satisfaction in its Financial Shared Services Centre with Esker

Sunway Group is a diversified Southeast Asian conglomerate (real estate, construction, retail, hospitality, healthcare, education, manufacturing) with over 11,000 employees and operations in 50+ locations. Its Malaysia-based Finance Shared Services Centre supports some 300 business units and faced a heavy manual accounts payable load—about 300,000 invoices per year—leading to data-entry errors, slow processing, missing documents, frequent supplier queries and stressed staff. Sunway’s goal was to fully automate AP, speed approvals, improve supplier collaboration and free employees for higher-value work.

Starting in 2016 Sunway implemented Esker’s cloud AP solution, integrating with Oracle JD Edwards and IFCA and rolling it out to more than 80% of business units. Esker digitized and archived invoices (cutting physical filing space by 40%), introduced a supplier portal, intelligent data capture and three-way matching, plus dashboards and mobile approvals. The result: 50% faster processing, 100% visibility across AP, accelerated approvals, improved supplier/staff collaboration and the ability to continue operations remotely during disruptions.
