Xylem Water Solutions, a global water-technology company, faced a paper-heavy accounts receivable process—sending 18,000 invoices a year (70% by mail) and spending about 2.5 minutes per invoice. The company needed to increase e-invoicing adoption, automate delivery in customers’ preferred formats, provide a collaborative invoice portal, reduce manual errors and physical storage, and improve document searchability with minimal impact on existing systems.
Xylem deployed Esker’s cloud-based AR solution to deliver e-invoices (email PDFs or portal links) with e-signatures/time-stamps and to outsource print/mail for customers who prefer paper; the portal lets customers set delivery preferences and provides secure access and archiving. The outcome: invoice delivery costs fell 60%, e-invoicing adoption rose to roughly two-thirds of customers, processing and traceability improved, staff time was freed for higher-value work, 21,000 sheets of paper were eliminated annually, and fixed/recurring costs were reduced.
