A Esker Case Study
PharmaCorr, a large correctional pharmacy serving multiple states, was processing more than 120,000 fax pages monthly and dispensing about 16,000 prescriptions a day with a fully paper-based order-entry workflow. The manual process—35 data-entry stations, multiple fax lines, copying, stapling and multi-person handling—created delays, occasional lost or jammed faxes, difficulty meeting SLAs and costly long-term paper retention and filing requirements.
PharmaCorr deployed Esker DeliveryWare to automate capture and routing using OCR, barcode and handwriting recognition, caller ID and Active Directory–driven rules, with Document Manager views and a unique sheet ID linking images to prescription numbers and a five-year electronic archive. The solution reduced processing time to about two seconds per order, eliminated dedicated filing roles, saved roughly $3,000 per month on paper and toner, improved staffing visibility and lowered shipping costs.
