Driving Ap Performance With Cloud-based Accounts Payable Automation

European Motor Distributors (EMD), a subsidiary of Giltrap Group Holdings and national distributor for Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and Skoda in New Zealand, faced growing strain on its accounts payable function as volumes climbed to about 3,500 invoices per month. The team relied on paper-driven processes—printing and circulating PDFs for approval and manually entering invoice data into MS Dynamics NAV—leading to slow processing, poor visibility, data-entry errors and the risk of duplicate or missed payments.

EMD implemented Esker’s cloud-based Accounts Payable automation (November 2017–February 2018), using intelligent data capture, workflow-driven multi-level approvals, archiving and mobile approvals via Esker Anywhere. The solution eliminated printing, enabled real-time invoice tracking and 100% accurate data capture, improved cash-flow visibility and supplier relations, and reduced AP resourcing from 3.5 to 2.5 FTEs while absorbing additional company growth without adding headcount.
