Attaining Optimal Mainframe Faxing

The Public Buildings Service (U.S. General Services Administration) oversees more than 345 million square feet of workspace for about one million federal employees across 2,000 communities, and relies heavily on fax communications. Its aging fax system—supporting roughly 500 inbound numbers—could not send to mail‑in databases or specific groups, was incompatible with new fax hardware, lacked serviceability and reporting, and made it hard to add users or track usage without changing the required GSA mail template.

The agency implemented Esker Fax for Notes, which met its enterprise requirements and enabled bulk faxing, preserved the GSA mail design, and let admins add users without loading a special client. Esker’s Fax Admin and Log databases improved monitoring and reporting, unused numbers can be reassigned automatically, and a three‑day on‑site install (including an agent to import phone data) finished ahead of schedule—delivering smoother operations with minimal disruption and options for future expansion.
