Mercury Engineering - Customer Case Study

Mercury Engineering, Ireland’s largest engineering firm with around 4,000 employees and a large mobile workforce, needed to secure sensitive tender and estimation data and protect numerous endpoints that frequently connect over unsecured public WiFi and 3G. Previous security products failed to stop repeated malware outbreaks, created heavy helpdesk workloads, and had complex, maintenance-heavy backends. To address this, Mercury deployed ESET, using ESET’s endpoint protection and centralized management to tighten security across its distributed environment.

ESET’s solution was rolled out in hours and administered by a single Mercury systems administrator with support from ESET Ireland, running on one small machine (1 CPU, 4 GB RAM) to manage more than 1,000 desktops and 200 servers globally. The ESET deployment delivers real-time monitoring, a light footprint, and protection for endpoints outside the corporate LAN, helping Mercury meet standards like ISO 27001. The measurable impact: four years free of malware/virus problems, no antivirus-related helpdesk calls, and secure handling of confidential commercial data.
