Southern California Edison, a 125‑year‑old utility serving Southern and Central California, faced complex, interconnected multi‑step business processes supported by multiple applications that created downstream risks and compliance challenges. To better document, analyze, simulate and manage these processes in a central repository, SCE engaged erwin to improve process visibility and coordination between business users and IT.
erwin delivered a flexible, user‑friendly solution that enabled process simulations, impact analysis and clearer change management, helping SCE identify training needs and bottlenecks. During a major SAP integration erwin shortened the stabilization period from three–six months to about three weeks, reduced technical‑writing effort (paying for itself within a year), and is now being used to support companywide operational‑excellence initiatives including a portal built with erwin Evolve.
