CenturyLink, the third-largest telecommunications company in the U.S., needed to speed time-to-market for new products and services but lacked a centralized data model—critical information was often kept in people’s heads or in project-specific spreadsheets, causing inconsistencies. To address this, CenturyLink partnered with erwin and adopted erwin Data Modeler.

erwin implemented erwin Data Modeler to define and model 1,000+ entities (financial, customer, sales and network infrastructure) and created a shared repository used by more than 90 employees. Templates and standardized metadata replaced ad hoc spreadsheets, improving communication and planning; as a result, CenturyLink reduced time spent on service offerings, ensured consistency across systems and databases, and eliminated duplicated effort.
