A Ericsson Case Study
Warid Telecom, a mobile network operator in Pakistan, needed to simplify and speed up its mediation processes as it moved from 2G toward 4G LTE and launched new data services. Its legacy mediation system was highly customized, slow to change, and produced delayed, inconsistent, and inaccurate reporting, making it difficult for marketing, finance, and executives to make timely decisions. Warid turned to Ericsson, using Ericsson Multi Mediation together with Ericsson Charging System and Ericsson Global Services, to improve information flow and support faster service introduction.
Ericsson implemented a flexible, convergent mediation platform that handled charging and network switch data, supported near-real-time processing, and distributed records to billing, BI, customer care, revenue assurance, and fraud systems. The results included much faster service changes, with one requested update completed in three days instead of two to three weeks, BI reporting reduced from two days to about four hours, improved revenue assurance, and better visibility into 19 value-added services. Ericsson also helped Warid lower CAPEX and OPEX through a smaller hardware footprint and simpler operations.
