VinaPhone, a wholly owned subsidiary of VNPT in Vietnam, wanted to launch 3G services ahead of competitors and strengthen its market position while growing revenues. Ericsson was selected to help design, deliver, and roll out the 3G mobile broadband network, including MSS core, 3G radio, network design, and integration services.

Ericsson and VinaPhone worked in a tightly coordinated strategic partnership to complete the rollout in just six weeks, enabling VinaPhone to become the first operator to launch 3G in Vietnam. The new network drove subscriber and revenue growth, helping VinaPhone exceed its 2009 revenue target by 10 percent and aiming for a further 30 percent increase in 2010, while also reducing operational costs through Ericsson’s energy-efficient solutions.
