A Ericsson Case Study
SOS Alarm, the Swedish emergency services organization that handles the 112 number for 9 million citizens, needed to upgrade its CoordCom emergency response system to connect all call centers, improve coordination across sites, and maintain a stable, 24/7 service while keeping the flexibility to add new services. The challenge was to let staff work together in parallel during large incidents and use resources more efficiently without adding headcount.
Ericsson upgraded SOS Alarm’s platform to CoordCom 5.3 with voice over IP, multi-user map display ResQMap, and services for roll-out, data migration, commissioning, and training. As a result, SOS Alarm created a virtual call center across Sweden, reduced response times without adding staff, improved collaboration between centers, and achieved more streamlined operations with significant cost savings while maintaining high performance and availability.
