A Ericsson Case Study
Cellcom Guinea, part of the Cellcom Group, launched as the fifth mobile operator in Guinea with a goal of standing out through superior coverage and service quality in a low-income market. To build a stable, efficient network and create a long-term viable business, the company turned to Ericsson for an advanced core, radio, and transmission solution, including MINI-LINK TN, Marconi LH, Mobile Softswitch, and GSM Radio.
Ericsson implemented a scalable, future-proof network that Cellcom could expand gradually as subscriber demand grew, with self-built transmission giving the operator control over cost and quality. The result was a strong early market performance: Cellcom Guinea reached second position in the market within six months of launch, covered 65% of the population, and built a strong reputation for quality and reliability.
