Case Study: Avea achieves higher backhaul capacity and LTE readiness with Ericsson

A Ericsson Case Study

Preview of the Avea Case Study

Service-Aware Charging and Control solution brings new and differentiated services

Avea, Turkey’s third-largest mobile operator, needed to transform its backhaul network to keep up with rapid 3G data growth among young urban subscribers. The challenge was to increase capacity, improve service reliability, reduce operating costs, and prepare for future LTE transport. Ericsson was selected to support the project with mobile backhaul solutions and optimization services.

Ericsson implemented a simplified, all-IP backhaul transformation using MINI-LINK TN microwave and Ericsson SPO 1400 optical products, along with Ethernet transformation, testing, and training services. The upgrade increased network capacity and efficiency, reduced call drop rates, extended 3G and GSM coverage, and positioned Avea for faster LTE deployment while enabling more competitive pricing and new service packages.
