Case Study: SaskTel achieves enterprise growth and IoT innovation with Ericsson's Device Connection Platform

A Ericsson Case Study

Preview of the SaskTel Case Study

SaskTel invests in Ericsson’s powerful, cloud-based machine-to-machine (M2M) platform to grow its enterprise business revenues and support local economic growth

SaskTel, Canada’s leading ICT provider in Saskatchewan, wanted to expand its enterprise business and support local economic growth by entering the Internet of Things (IoT) and machine-to-machine (M2M) market. To do this, SaskTel worked with Ericsson and selected Ericsson’s Device Connection Platform (DCP), a cloud-based M2M connectivity management service designed to help operators quickly launch new enterprise offerings.

Ericsson implemented a turnkey, self-service M2M platform with managed connectivity, subscription management, APIs, and support services to help SaskTel build and manage IoT solutions across multiple industries. As a result, SaskTel launched an agricultural sensor application that continuously monitors grain storage conditions in silos, alerting farmers to moisture, temperature, and humidity changes that could damage crop quality; the company is now also pursuing opportunities in insurance and fleet management.
