Case Study: Rogers Canada achieves faster LTE mobile broadband with Ericsson

A Ericsson Case Study

Preview of the Rogers Canada Case Study

Rogers first in Canada to upgrade its network to LTE with an Evolved Packet Core, introducing faster mobile broadband speeds

Rogers Canada, one of the country’s largest wireless providers, needed to meet rapidly growing demand for smartphone data services while strengthening its position as an innovation leader. To do this, Rogers partnered with Ericsson to launch Canada’s first LTE network with an Evolved Packet Core, aiming to deliver faster mobile broadband speeds, better efficiency, and support for both LTE and existing voice services.

Ericsson implemented an end-to-end LTE-RAN and EPC solution, including RBS 6000 multi-radio base stations, policy control, CSFB for voice on LTE smartphones, microwave backhaul, and deployment services. The result was greater network performance, better spectrum use, lower capex and opex, new revenue opportunities through differentiated services, and positive customer feedback highlighting high speeds and low latency.
