A Ericsson Case Study
Mobily, a Saudi Arabian telecommunications provider, faced the immense challenge of ensuring seamless connectivity and flawless network performance during the Hajj pilgrimage, a large-scale event with millions of attendees. Their network had to handle massive, fluctuating traffic and rapidly respond to issues like interference and capacity bottlenecks in real time. Partnering with Ericsson, Mobily sought to move beyond traditional manual operations by leveraging Ericsson's Cognitive Network Solution and its AI-driven software to achieve a high degree of automation.
Ericsson implemented a sophisticated AI-powered software suite for Mobily, including real-time dashboards, uplink interference optimizers, and a closed-loop autonomous framework. This solution enabled fully automated detection, diagnosis, and corrective action across the network. The results were transformative, with Ericsson's technology delivering a 15% improvement in SINR, a 9% increase in higher-order modulation, and a 10% gain in 5G throughput. The project achieved zero-touch operations with Level 4 autonomy, executing over 15,000 automated actions and providing the best Hajj performance to date.
