Case Study: European Broadcasting Union achieves a pioneering mobile Eurovision experience with Ericsson

A Ericsson Case Study

Preview of the European Broadcasting Union Case Study

In a world first, the European Broadcasting Union joins forces with Ericsson to deliver an enhanced Eurovision experience on the mobile channel

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), organizer of the Eurovision Song Contest, wanted a pioneering mobile TV experience that would deliver timely, easy-to-use content to fans on the move and generate more buzz around the event. To meet this challenge, Ericsson provided its Mobile TV BRIC solution, enabling a better mobile viewing experience across a wide range of 3G handsets without requiring users to download a client or app.

Ericsson implemented the service in a cloud-based environment, using browser-based delivery and device profiling to automatically adapt content to nearly any compatible phone. The trial was launched in just three weeks and delivered strong results: more than 41,000 page views, over 40,000 people reached, users from multiple countries, and an average session length of 17 minutes, all at minimal cost and with immediate global reach.
