Case Study: Radius Infratel achieves cost-effective broadband expansion with Ericsson GPON FTTH solutions

A Ericsson Case Study

Preview of the Radius Infratel Case Study

How Radius Infratel is enabling a connected society with a neutral access network

Radius Infratel, an India-based fixed broadband infrastructure provider, needed a scalable way to expand high-speed broadband access and deliver services such as HD IPTV, seamless Wi‑Fi, and video-on-demand. To address this challenge, Radius Infratel worked with Ericsson on a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) approach built around Ericsson’s GPON technology and Neutral Access Network Operation (NANO) concept.

Ericsson implemented a GPON-based open access network using its EDA 1500 Optical Line Terminal, T-Series optical terminals, and passive fiber solutions, along with systems integration, consulting, training, and support. The pilot at the 2010 Commonwealth Games Village supported 8,000 dignitaries, athletes, and officials, delivered up to 100 Mbps data speeds, and helped prove a model that could reduce capex for multiple operators by at least 40 percent while enabling Radius Infratel’s plan to connect 600,000 homes with FTTH.
