Case Study: MetroPCS launches the first 4G LTE network in the US with Ericsson

A Ericsson Case Study

Preview of the MetroPCS Case Study

Helping consumers enjoy the benefits of 4G wireless services

MetroPCS, the U.S. leader in no-annual-contract wireless services, needed a way to keep up with rapidly rising data demand while staying true to its low-cost, contract-free model. Working with Ericsson, the company looked for a scalable 4G LTE solution that could improve network quality and deliver richer wireless services to cost-conscious consumers.

Ericsson implemented LTE with Evolved Packet Core products, along with network planning, design, deployment, optimization, and turnkey services. The network transformation was completed in about a year and deployed across 12 U.S. markets, helping MetroPCS simplify its network, increase spectral efficiency, and reduce costs. Most notably, MetroPCS became the first operator to launch a 4G LTE network in the U.S., ahead of competitors.
