A Ericsson Case Study
Generalitat Valenciana, the regional government of Valencia, Spain, manages emergency response for a population of around 5 million, rising to 7 million in peak tourist season. With about 13,000 emergency calls handled each day and more than 140 agencies involved, it needed a best-in-class way to coordinate police, fire, health, and civil protection services faster and more effectively. Ericsson provided the CoordCom 5.2 command-and-control communication platform to help address this challenge.
Ericsson implemented an integrated emergency management solution that combines telephony, radio, data communications, and GIS-based real-time resource tracking into one system. The result was improved multi-agency coordination, faster dispatch of the right resources, better information sharing while preserving privacy, and lower total cost of ownership across the region. According to the case study, the unified platform helps ensure quicker, more efficient response operations that can ultimately save lives.
