DST solidifies its market lead in Brunei Darussalam with 3G services

DataStream Technology (DST) in Brunei Darussalam needed to defend its 78% mobile market share as new fixed and mobile broadband competitors entered the market. To stay ahead, DST wanted to launch 3G services quickly while also future-proofing its network and better meeting end-user needs. Ericsson was selected for its telecommunications expertise and its ability to provide end-to-end support, including Network Rollout and Business Consulting.

Ericsson helped DST launch nationwide mobile broadband in May 2008, combining network rollout with go-to-market consulting to align technology deployment with business strategy. The result was a successful 3G launch, improved time-to-market, a stronger brand image, and new revenue streams. DST’s mobile broadband service reached speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, and the service saw strong take-up, indicating solid demand in Brunei Darussalam’s under-served market.
