Case Study: Batelco Networks achieves seamless 2G and 3G indoor coverage with Ericsson

Bahrain Telecommunications Company, Batelco, and Ericsson bring mobile coverage to the Bahrain Financial Harbour

Batelco Networks, Bahrain’s leading integrated communications provider, needed to deliver reliable indoor 2G and 3G mobile coverage for the new Bahrain Financial Harbour, including the Financial Centre, mall, offices, and high-rise towers. The challenge was to provide strong in-building service for both GSM and WCDMA networks while keeping the system centralized, cost-efficient, and ready for future growth.

Ericsson implemented a hybrid In-Building Solution using Main-Remote RBSs, a distributed antenna system, and optical links to provide coverage across the entire complex. Ericsson’s design delivered high-performance 2G, 2.5G, 3G, and 3.5G coverage with lower power consumption, easier maintenance, and reduced operating costs, while preserving the building’s aesthetics; the project also strengthened Batelco’s position and opened the door to additional future opportunities.
