A Ericsson Case Study
AIS (Advanced Info Service), Thailand’s leading mobile operator, needed help upgrading its network from 2G to 3G while also dealing with the country’s worst flooding in 2011. Ericsson was chosen to support the rollout, which covered more than 1,200 sites nationwide, and to help maintain critical communications during the disaster.
Ericsson carried out a countrywide 3G network deployment and worked in parallel to secure essential services throughout the flooding. Despite the extreme conditions, the rollout was completed on schedule in 2011, and AIS kept its network operational for customers and rescue teams, contributing to relief efforts across Thailand.
