A Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions Case Study
GR Energy Services, a completion and production solutions company headquartered in Sugar Land, Texas, faced unreliable and insecure connectivity on its wireline trucks that blocked remote access to real-time well data. Remote oilfield locations and spotty cellular coverage forced senior engineers to drive long distances (sometimes seven to eight hours) for on-site troubleshooting, and prior hotspot solutions lacked the security, VPN capability, and carrier flexibility GR needed. To address this, GR turned to Cradlepoint and its NetCloud Service for Mobile delivered via in-vehicle SD-WAN routers with embedded LTE and dual modems.
Cradlepoint deployed NetCloud Service for Mobile across GR’s fleet, providing in-vehicle SD-WAN, dual-modem LTE routers with automatic cellular-to-cellular failover and load balancing, WiFi-as-WAN, cloud management, and built-in security (UTM, IPS/IDS, web filtering and VPN). The solution delivered always-on connectivity, enabled remote troubleshooting and training (eliminating many long drives of up to seven–eight hours), lowered cellular data use when trucks are at headquarters, and reduced spending on network appliances, data plans, and engineer man-hours — all managed centrally through Cradlepoint’s cloud platform.
