Private LTE Through CBRS Helps Companies Keep Workers Safe at Large Refineries

PK Solutions, which supplies safety-focused IoT devices, wearables and the weavix workforce platform for oil and gas refineries, struggled with unreliable Wi‑Fi and congested public LTE across large sites and inside tall towers—jeopardizing real-time biometric, gas and video monitoring. To solve this, PK Solutions deployed a Private LTE approach using CBRS and partnered with Cradlepoint, leveraging Cradlepoint NetCloud Service and purpose-built wireless edge routers in ruggedized communication kits (alongside Nokia’s private wireless radios).

Cradlepoint’s NetCloud-managed edge routers provided CBRS connectivity, centralized visibility and remote SIM/control capabilities, enabling PK Solutions to set up temporary towers, enforce Quality-of-Service and prioritize safety devices. The result was secure, low-latency, uncongested Wireless LAN coverage across refineries, simplified cloud management, and reduced operating costs by removing per-SIM carrier data fees—allowing PK Solutions to reliably scale to continuous video and other high-bandwidth IoT use cases.
