Swinton, the UK’s largest high‑street insurance broker, needed to improve the performance of a new ASP.NET/Ajax lead‑management application that was overloading its 2,500 aging Wyse thin clients and consuming branch bandwidth. To avoid costly hardware replacement and minimize IT expenditure, Swinton turned to Ericom Software and its PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView solution.

Ericom Software deployed PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView centrally (including a custom client for one terminal type) to deliver applications from the data centre to existing thin clients. The result: screen response improved from 7.3 seconds to 0.5 seconds, the life of the thin clients more than doubled, over £400,000 was saved, and all 2,500 branch advisors now use the system to better prioritise leads and boost sales.
