Informatics Merseyside, a shared IT service provider for the Merseyside Health Economy, needed a device‑agnostic way for mobile clinicians to access the EMIS patient record system from tablets and laptops (including BYOD iPads and Android devices) while preventing patient data from being stored on lost or stolen devices. To meet these requirements they selected Ericom Software’s PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView as the remote access solution.

Ericom Software deployed RemoteView as a server‑based, browser-accessible platform and helped run a proof‑of‑concept with 25 GPs and 4 community nurses that delivered immediate results: clinicians could update EMIS on the spot, saving many hours per year, improving care quality and supporting NHS QIPP and wider government efficiency targets. The solution eliminated local data storage (reducing data‑loss risk), enabled cost‑effective BYOD roll‑out via concurrent licensing, and is now planned for scale‑up across hundreds of GP surgeries and some 1,700 community nurses (with potential for thousands of users).
