Futures Community College Pioneers BYOD with Ericom

Futures Community College, a UK further-education provider serving about 1,200 pupils, faced failing classroom performance from 600 aging PCs, tight IT budgets and rising demand for Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) access. To address these challenges the college chose Ericom Software’s PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView to centralize applications and enable secure access from school and home.

Ericom Software implemented PowerTerm WebConnect RemoteView (with its AccessNow HTML5 client) to stream applications and files to campus desktops, roaming netbooks and personal devices. The deployment restored PC responsiveness—extending older machines’ usable life by about three years—enabled remote access for students and staff, supported roughly 90 BYOD devices (with capacity for 150+ users), cut IT support time and delivered the solution at around 40% of the cost of a comparable Citrix deployment, improving teaching engagement and reducing operating costs.
