Ericom Extends Reach of Bradford Central School District Chromebooks to Windows Applications

Bradford Central School District, a K-12 district in New York serving approximately 300 students, needed a way to extend access to hosted Windows applications to school-owned Google Chromebooks and students’ personal devices as part of a BYOD/1:1 initiative. The district sought a simple, affordable, clientless alternative to Citrix that would work cross‑platform and avoid endpoint installations and heavy IT support — and engaged Ericom Software to address this need using Ericom AccessNow.

Ericom Software deployed Ericom AccessNow, an HTML5 RDP solution, across Chromebooks and Android/iOS devices so students could access Windows applications and desktops from a browser with no client installation. The solution was up and running in a day or two, enabled access to legacy Windows apps (Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Typing Master) from 125 Chromebooks and other devices, reduced IT support and licensing costs compared with Citrix, and expanded the district’s BYOD reach for roughly 300 students.
