Compu-Clearing Outsourcing Ltd., a leading South African customs-clearing and freight forwarding services provider used by roughly 3,000 customers worldwide, needed to modernize its IBM iSeries (AS/400) green‑screen applications and centrally support a geographically dispersed user base. After evaluating options, Compu-Clearing selected Ericom Software’s PowerTerm solution (initially PowerTerm InterConnect, later upgraded to PowerTerm WebConnect with PowerGUI) to deliver a Windows-style, user‑friendly front end without changing their core applications.

Ericom Software implemented PowerTerm InterConnect for local terminal emulation and then deployed PowerTerm WebConnect as a server‑based thin client, allowing one‑day, centrally managed rollouts, modem or browser access, and scalability to thousands of desktops. The solution required no application changes, reduced training needs (users began work without formal training), saved “tens of thousands” on replacement hardware, improved performance and reliability, and directly supported Compu-Clearing’s international ASP expansion while backed by Ericom Software’s global support.
