Siemens Healthineers, a leading global healthcare company, faced a challenge in harmonizing the user experience across its various business areas and products. They engaged the vendor, Ergosign GmbH, to create a unified icon framework with a consistent style and metaphoric system to address this design inconsistency.

Ergosign designed a comprehensive icon framework, which involved developing a new geometric and monochrome style, redesigning existing icons, and establishing new metaphors. The solution, which grew to include over 1,000 specialized icons, also included conceptual work for an icon library to simplify management. The project was highly successful, resulting in Siemens Healthineers receiving the prestigious Red Dot Award 2017 for Communication Design. Ergosign's work provided the customer with a unique, prize-winning framework that improved system consistency and user learning.
