Case Study: Vueling achieves scalable, high-performance, resilient digital infrastructure with Equinix

A Equinix Case Study

Preview of the Vueling Case Study

Vueling Airlines innovates with modern digital infrastructure

Vueling, a leading low-cost European airline based in Spain, needed a professionally managed, digital-ready IT infrastructure to scale quickly and support emerging technologies (AI, sensors, facial and voice recognition). The airline sought higher performance and reliability across its network, IaaS/web hosting, flight operations, reservations and sales systems, plus robust business continuity and disaster recovery.

Equinix built and now manages Vueling’s infrastructure on Platform Equinix in Barcelona and Madrid using Managed Services, Smart Backup, Cross Connect, AWS Direct Connect, Performance Hub and Smart Hands, overseeing 200+ network devices, 500 servers and 27,000 sensors and supporting 230 TB of storage (150 TB monthly backup) and 1.6 PB of media. The deployment delivered multicloud flexibility and 700 Mbps inter-IBX capacity, 99.9999% uptime for BC/DR, reduced staff workload, faster scaling and an improved customer experience (faster check‑in, real‑time alerts and support for facial recognition).
