VR Group boosts cloud application performance and reduces costs

VR Group, a Finnish travel, logistics and maintenance company, needed to replace a complex, manually operated legacy network that was driving up costs and hurting access to critical cloud services. The architecture team sought faster, more resilient, and more scalable hybrid multicloud connectivity to deliver reliable employee access to Microsoft Azure and customer‑facing systems on AWS while controlling rising expenses.

Working with Equinix and Cisco, VR Group built an agile virtual network on Platform Equinix using Network Edge, Equinix Fabric and Cisco virtual routers to create private, low‑latency (1–5 ms) connections between Helsinki, Amsterdam and London and to AWS/Azure. The solution improved cloud app performance by 100x, eliminated outages, simplified provisioning, and reduced network costs by at least 60%, while supporting both companies’ sustainability goals.
