Sysco, a global foodservice distributor with hundreds of thousands of SKUs and operations across more than 90 countries, faced a surge in data and a mandate to deliver always-on access to information as it shifted more than half of its workloads to a multi‑cloud environment. The company needed a faster, more reliable network backbone to support sales, supply‑chain systems and growing mobile ordering and reporting demands.

Sysco partnered with Equinix to build a high‑speed private backbone that meshes its Houston and outsourced data centers with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud) via Equinix interconnection points and aggregated network service providers. The new architecture delivered faster, more consistent response times, improved mobile ordering and sales reporting, stronger redundancy and failover with geo‑mirroring and synchronization, and a scalable foundation for continued global expansion and planned use of Equinix Cloud Exchange Fabric.
