SunExpress increases operational efficiency and improves passenger satisfaction

SunExpress, the Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa joint venture airline, needed a more resilient and cost-effective network between Türkiye and Europe while improving access to key aviation and cloud partners such as Amadeus, IBS, AWS, and Microsoft Azure. Working with Equinix, SunExpress moved to Platform Equinix to reduce reliance on multiple circuit providers, lower costs, and address growing demands for digital resiliency and faster problem resolution.

Equinix implemented interconnection services through its FR4 Frankfurt and IL2 Istanbul IBX data centers, using Equinix Fabric, Network Edge, and local colocation support from KoçSistem. The result was better network performance, with Azure access time improving from 75–85 ms to 62–67 ms and jitter dropping from 1–4 ms to 0–2 ms; critical service interruption was reduced by 6.5 hours versus 2022, helping SunExpress serve more than 12 million passengers in 2023 with greater efficiency and lower revenue loss.
