A state government IT agency responsible for delivering digital services to state, local and educational entities needed a secure, high-performance cloud strategy to support mission-critical applications across three geographically dispersed metro areas. Faced with bandwidth, space and budget constraints and limitations of internet-based VPNs, the agency required private regional connectivity, better uptime and a scalable architecture to expand IaaS/PaaS offerings and meet compliance.

Equinix Professional Services partnered with Microsoft to deliver an ExpressRoute Strategy and Connectivity Workshop, then deployed the agency on Platform Equinix in three metros with Equinix Cloud Exchange (ECX) enablement, testing, HyperCare support and migration of high-bandwidth traffic to Equinix Internet Exchange. The result was optimized, private Azure connectivity, centralized multicloud management, lower latency for sub-agencies, usage-based monitoring, a repeatable onboarding model and in-house routing skills to support ongoing ECX turn-ups.
