Square Enix Ups its Game on Platform Equinix

Square Enix, the creator of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, needed to expand its server capacity to keep delivering high‑definition content and faster updates. Its existing server farm had reached capacity, creating a need for a high‑density, cloud‑accessible environment and reliable, low‑latency interconnection between Tokyo sites to handle growing volumes of data and compute‑intensive game development workloads.

Square Enix built its new environment on Platform Equinix (TY11), using Metro Connect for low‑latency site links, Equinix Fabric and Cross Connects for fast access to clouds and content providers, and Smart View for 24/7 rack monitoring. The result is a scalable, energy‑efficient setup that can house up to 30 high‑density servers, reduces operational overhead and site visits, delivers cost‑effective connectivity, and speeds game development and time to market.
