Seaborn Networks - Customer Case Study

Seaborn Networks, a carrier‑neutral submarine cable operator with a pay‑as‑you‑grow model, set out to meet surging cloud‑driven demand by creating the first direct POP‑to‑POP submarine route between U.S. and Brazilian commercial and financial centers. Facing a market gap in low‑latency, high‑capacity connectivity into São Paulo and New York, Seaborn needed a colocation partner with global reach and vendor independence to connect service providers, financial firms and cloud platforms directly to its cable.

Seaborn partnered with Equinix to land Seabras‑1 inside Equinix IBX data centers in São Paulo and New York, delivering a 6,650‑mile, 72 Tbps system with 100 GbE end‑to‑end links and the lowest POP‑to‑POP latency between the metros (~106.6 ms). The deployment created multiple local POPs for easy customer access, cut local‑loop costs, enabled 24‑hour circuit provisioning, and quickly monetized Seaborn’s investment by connecting financial services, cloud, content and network providers to dense digital ecosystems.
