A Equinix Case Study
Wehkamp, a leading Dutch online department store serving over two million regular customers and handling more than ten million parcels a year, faced a critical availability risk: its operations relied on a single in‑house data center at headquarters, leaving its 24/7/365 online store vulnerable to outages or natural disasters across its multiple sites, including two large logistics centers.
To mitigate that risk, Wehkamp colocated identical equipment in Equinix’s ZW1 IBX and implemented geographically separated fiber connections between its head office, the Maurik logistics center and the Equinix facility. The solution delivered a complete disaster recovery capability, improved availability through redundant entry paths, interconnection to cloud providers and Equinix anti‑DDoS protection—enabling rapid detection and mitigation of disruptions and preserving continuous service and multicloud performance.
